What is next for Ethereal Metropolis?


An mature wolfman, a young lizardguy, a snarky griffin, and a unicorn walk into a bar. What do they share in common? They are playable characters in our pre-alpha demo of Ethereal Metropolis. Which you can download here:

But now that we have released the pre-alpha build, what exactly is next?

We also have identified plenty of bugs and issues thanks to you all and those within our Discord Community at https://discord.gg/xEgND2FVGk ! If you want to report bugs, issues, and more, simply head on over there or leave them in the stickied post!

The following issues listed in this chart will be addressed as we continue to update and push new builds for Ethereal Metropolis for the next couple of months.

IssueSolution / What we will do
"I can't move my characters!"This is a pathfinding error which occurs when a tile is not flagged as occupied by a mesh. We are implementing a solution where if a model occupies a tile, it will no longer be navigable.
"The homebase doesn't work."It is not yet fully implemented. We will be discussing the full implementation of the menu in a full dev log.
"I don't understand what the abilities do!"Who wants to read when they want to play video games? We're working on improving on telling what exactly the buttons do along with reducing the amount of reading you have to do.
"The movement is unintuitive."Well that's because it is. We're working on a simple select character and right click to move.
"Orishidat gets hit while she flies."Damage immunity to melee damage is not yet implemented while she flies. We're working on a flagging system which allows only for ranged and AoE to hit her while she flies.
"The characters are naked and t-posing!"Well, for starters, its an opportunity. But we are working on implementing armor by targeting the characters and have the models for them. See below this chart.
"The game runs super slowly!"That is because we had to asset swap a bunch of expensive (on computer) MegaScans models which are there only as placeholders. Using Kickstarter funding, we would bring on 3D artists to make lightweight and more stylized models for Ethereal Metropolis.
